Secretary Wilson, General Goldfein, you have made it clear in your submitted testimony that you believe that the Air Force is too small and under-resourced to carry out its mission requirements under the National Defense Strategy with acceptable risk. Taking into account your concerns with readiness, capacity, and capability, the Subcommittee is prepared to review your fiscal year 2020 budget request within the scope of the resources that will be provided to the Department.

“Unless Congress and the President act soon, our country faces an imminent, $125 billion fiscal cliff that will force huge cuts to investments in America’s working families and deep damage to our national security. Averting the damage of these unworkable budget caps must be a top priority, which is why I am pleased to join Chairman Yarmuth to introduce the Investing for the People Act."

"Sadly, the president’s budget for fiscal year 2020 completely fails to support the EPA’s mission. President Trump requested just $6.1 billion for EPA, which is $2.8 billion below the FY 2019 enacted level of $8.9 billion. This request is a cut of more than 31 percent below the FY 2019 enacted level. That is the largest proposed cut to any cabinet-level agency in the government."
