Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee, delivered the following remarks at the subcommittee markup of the 2026 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies funding bill:
Republican Commerce, Justice, Science funding bill would eliminate thousands of federal law enforcement agents and analysts, make life easier for violent criminals, erode American scientific strength, and threaten national security.
Congresswoman Grace Meng (D-NY-06), Ranking Member of the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Subcommittee, delivered the following remarks at the Subcommittee's markup of the 2026 funding bill:
House Republicans today released the draft fiscal year 2026 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies funding bill, which will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow. The legislation defunds law enforcement, makes us less safe, and hurts our economy.
House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03); Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee Ranking Member Grace Meng (D-NY-06); and Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee Ranking Member Lauren Underwood (D-IL-14) sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Department of Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick expressing deep concern that recent freezing, delays, and cancellations of critical resources promised to communities across the country will impact our nation’s ability to prepare for and respond to major natural disasters.
