"The Army is not a regional force – it is a global force. The Army must meet the different demands of each of the combatant commanders and adjust to the many different environmental situations. And the Army has accomplished this over the years with strong ties to NATO nations, South Korea, Japan, and many other new partners in Asia under Operation Pathways."

Statement
"The CFTC is a steward of both American markets and American taxpayers' dollars. With one of the smaller budgets among independent agencies, the CFTC is responsible for regulating a massive financial market. In June 2022, the Bank for International Settlements estimated that global derivatives markets had a $632 trillion notional value—that is trillion with a 'T'—while the CFTC received a total of $365 million in FY23 appropriations. The CFTC is also the only U.S. financial regulator that does not impose user fees on market participants, which further demonstrates the huge return that the American people get on their investment in the agency."

"Examining the management challenges facing the Department of Transportation and the Department of Housing and Urban Development helps this subcommittee make informed decisions about how we invest resources. Whether it is aging IT infrastructure, a shrinking workforce, or private sector development outpacing Federal regulation, DOT and HUD require effective oversight and fine-tuning."

Statement
"To maintain our technological superiority in the air and space domain, it is as important as ever to educate and train the next generation of mathematicians, physicists, aeronautical engineers, and of course, computer scientists. Falling behind is not an option in any of these fields because we are one nation that is supported by the entire budget, not a fraction of its parts."

Statement
"People depend on these programs, which is why I must mention how deeply concerned I am over some extreme House Republican calls for massive spending cuts and even more extreme calls by Republican officials to eliminate so many of the programs that keep families healthy, safe, and prosperous. These cuts would be devastating to children, families, seniors, and veterans. We should be doing everything we can to increase access to these programs, not cutting off vital services to the people who need them."

Statement
"Your budget continues to build upon this administration’s commitment to addressing the climate crisis by requesting significant increases to advance science and enhance conservation efforts. It ensures that we are upholding our treaty and trust obligations, and it comprehensively expands the federal government’s response to wildland fire."
