Ranking Member DeLauro Statement at Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Request for the Department of Education Hearing
"Investing in kids—not defunding their education—is how we make our economy stronger and our future brighter. We should be doing everything we can to increase access to these programs, not cutting off very basic education services for children who need them."
Ranking Member Cuellar Statement at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Request Hearing
As the Federal agency charged with the enforcement of violations of customs and immigration laws, the breadth of the investigatory and operational work of ICE has a wide net including combatting transnational criminal organizations, illicit drug trafficking, human trafficking and smuggling networks, and violations of trade and intellectual property. Vice Ranking Member Meng Statement at United States Agency for International Development Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Request Hearing
I have long argued that our foreign assistance is critical to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, especially in terms of eradicating poverty, protecting the planet, and promoting peace and prosperity. Achieving these goals by 2030 has been made even more difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its many secondary effects, the conflict in Ukraine, rising food prices, as well as ongoing climate shocks and disasters. Ranking Member DeLauro Statement at Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Request for the Food and Drug Administration Hearing
"The American people depend on a strong FDA. And while not a perfect agency, the FDA’s programs must be fully funded to ensure the health and safety of the American people. Anything less puts lives at risk."
Ranking Member Bishop Statement at Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Request for the Food and Drug Administration Hearing
"And we have to fight to keep our food, our medicine, our medical devices safe for all American families. Unfortunately, despite the need to continue investing and conducting proper oversight over the FDA, House Republicans’ reported proposal to cut fiscal year 2024 discretionary spending back to the fiscal year 2022 level threatens much of the progress made in recent years to protect our food and drugs."
