House Appropriations Committee Democrats have filed legislation to reopen the federal government and fund the Department of the Treasury, the Executive Office of the President, the Federal Judiciary, the Securities and Exchange Commission, Small Business Administration, and multiple other agencies. The legislation is virtually identical to the FY19 Financial Services and General Government bill that passed the Senate Appropriations Committee on a 31-0 vote and was adopted by the full Senate on a 92-6 vote.

House Appropriations Committee Democrats have filed legislation to reopen the federal government and fund the Departments of Commerce and Justice, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the National Science Foundation, and other agencies. The legislation is virtually identical to the FY19 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill that passed the Senate Appropriations Committee in June by a 30-1 vote.

House Appropriations Committee Democrats have filed legislation to reopen the federal government and fund the Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration. The legislation is virtually identical to the FY19 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration and Related Agencies bill that passed the Senate Appropriations Committee on a 31-0 vote and was adopted by the full Senate on a 92-6 vote.

This bill is nothing but another attempt by lame duck Republicans to appease President Trump. It is a fitting final act for the most chaotic and dysfunctional Congress in modern history.

“When House Democrats assume control in two weeks, my primary focus will be to pass reasonable spending legislation that does not fund President Trump’s wasteful wall. Our talented incoming subcommittee chairs and the rest of our new Democratic Majority will work together to write responsible legislation that reflects the American people’s priorities and fully funds the government for the rest of the fiscal year.”

President Trump has said he “will take the mantle of shutting down” the federal government to secure $5 billion for his wasteful wall. If Trump and the Republicans follow through on this threat, the resulting government shutdown will harm American families, businesses, and communities.
