House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey (D-NY-17) and House Democrats today introduced two Continuing Resolutions to reopen the federal government and end the Trump Shutdown.
The House today approved legislation to reopen the Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service and remove any doubt that hardworking American families will receive their tax refunds on schedule.
We can reopen both the IRS and the SBA today, along with other vital agencies like the FCC, the SEC, and the federal Judiciary. Democrats are yet again ready to act, and I urge my colleague to support this bill.
By passing this bill, we will be able to get more than 130,000 workers back to work and receiving a paycheck. It is long past time that we re-open government, and this bill does exactly that for a number of critical agencies that the American people rely upon every single day.
This week, the House will consider the Financial Services and General Government appropriations bill as a standalone measure. This bill funds the Department of Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service. Passing it will ensure hardworking families receive their tax refunds on schedule.
