Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03), House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member; Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee; Representative Steny Hoyer (D-MD-05), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government; and Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government wrote a letter to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles demanding the Trump administration immediately take off the air a taxpayer-funded political ad celebrating President Trump—and report to the Committees exactly how many taxpayer dollars were spent creating and airing the illegal political propaganda.

House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) issued a statement following reports over the weekend that the White House is drafting a new executive order to exert further political control over who receives research grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH):

Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH-09), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, and Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, sent a letter to Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Chairman Ho K. Nieh about the broad changes being made at the NRC to regulations, security, organizational structure, and more, which could threaten worker safety at nuclear facilities and impair independent oversight. The NRC has been quickly making these changes and rehauling the organization without providing time for public input or transparency.
