Thank you, Madam Chair. I am pleased we are here to consider the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug and Related Agencies Appropriations bill.

The House Appropriations Committee today released its fiscal year 2021 302(b) subcommittee allocations and its reports accompanying the fiscal year 2021 Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs, Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, and Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies appropriations bills.

WASHINGTON — The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies today approved by voice vote its fiscal year 2021 bill. Total discretionary funding in the legislation is $23.98 billion, an increase of $487 million above the FY 2020 enacted level.

The bill next heads to the full Committee for markup.

"I have maintained a steadfast commitment to our rural communities. To that extent, the bill includes $1.055 billion for rural broadband expansion, including $990 million for the ReConnect program, an increase of $435 million or 78%. In total, the bill provides more than $3.2 billion in budget authority for Rural Development programs to fund critical infrastructure, such as water and wastewater systems, and rural housing needs."
