DeLauro Urges Senate to Pass New Package with Support for Ukraine, Israel, Indo-Pacific, and Lifesaving Humanitarian Aid

WASHINGTON — House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) released the following statement on House passage of the national security package that includes the Indo-Pacific Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024; Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024; and Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024.

“The passage of this national security and humanitarian funding package marks a pivotal moment in our commitment to our allies abroad and civilians caught in the crossfire. House Democrats put supporting our allies and helping innocent people in conflict zones above politics. With this vote, we have shown the world that America stands for freedom and democracy, and against tyranny.

“These bills provide Ukraine with desperately needed aid and munitions to fight back against Russia’s invasion and Vladimir Putin’s unyielding pursuit of power. It supports Israel in its war against Iran and its proxies, like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. We are standing up for our Indo-Pacific partners against an adversarial China and ensuring humanitarian aid can flow to millions of vulnerable people around the world including Gazans, the Ukrainians, the Sudanese, the Haitians, or the Rohingya.

“Despite unnecessary delays, we have shown our trusted allies that we have their back, that our word can be counted on. I look forward to my colleagues in the Senate passing this new national security package.”
