The House today passed, on a bipartisan 343 to 67 vote, a continuing resolution to extend federal government funding through December 18 and keep the government open after the current stopgap funding law expires Friday.
"The Continuing Resolution we consider today will keep the government up and running to bring spending talks to a successful conclusion. These are serious issues that touch every aspect of people’s lives like their education, transportation systems, national security, public health infrastructure, and our environment. In addition to an omnibus appropriations bill, it is my hope that this additional week will allow negotiators the time to assemble an emergency coronavirus relief package."

"Regardless of what we feel about the issue of abortion, it is well past time that we, as members of this great committee, discuss the harmful legacy of the Hyde amendment. We should listen to the experts and understand the harms and real-life consequences imposed by this rider."
