The House today passed an omnibus spending bill consisting of all 12 fiscal year 2021 appropriations bills, coronavirus relief, and authorizations.
House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey (D-NY) today released the text of an omnibus spending bill consisting of all 12 fiscal year 2021 appropriations bills, coronavirus relief, and authorizations.
House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey (D-NY) and Democratic Members of the House State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Subcommittee today wrote to President Donald Trump opposing his plan to defund the United States’ previously appropriated and committed contributions to the World Health Organization (WHO).
"“President Trump’s promise of ‘America First’ has turned into ‘America Alone.’ The Trump Administration’s campaign against the WHO is just one of many examples of absurd policy cooked up to appeal to the President’s political base, shirk his responsibility, and abdicate America’s role as a global leader."
“While this move is not surprising given the Trump administration’s ill-advised posture toward the World Health Organization (WHO), it is nevertheless devastating that the United States will apparently not participate in global efforts to develop and distribute a coronavirus vaccine."
