April 3, 2019 Statement
"The energy future of our country depends on DOE’s vital investments to solve our toughest energy challenges. The President’s budget request harms America’s energy future, our competitiveness, our consumers, and our economy. The Trump budget also falls short in meeting our obligations to the communities that have sacrificed, and still bear the brunt of costs borne from winning World War II."
April 3, 2019 Statement
"But, and my colleagues have heard me say this, I believe this budget is cruel and reckless. This is an agency that has been historically underfunded. And now we are looking at a 10% cut. And, you say we can do more with less. But, it would appear that we are doing less with less. A lot less with less."
April 3, 2019 Statement
"Unfortunately, this Commission continues to advance policies that favor large industry players at the expense of consumers and small businesses."
April 3, 2019 Statement
"From eliminating Economic Development Administration grants, which provide funding and technical assistance to economically distressed communities, to seriously underfunding the Census, this request is completely out of touch with the needs of our constituents."
April 3, 2019 Statement
"I strongly believe in transparency and accountability. And that starts at the top of every government agency- including the Commerce Department. The Secretary has a lot of questions that he should answer directly."
April 3, 2019 Statement
"The funding levels in the Trump budget cause needless worry on the part of many Americans who care deeply about our public lands and the people who work to protect them. Our constituents see these cuts, thinking this is the final say, and imagine that the services and opportunities in our parks and our wildlife refuges, and the science we need to understand our world and anticipate natural hazards, will be severely curtailed. Tribal nations are also impacted by reductions in these bureaus."
April 3, 2019 Statement
"Mr. Secretary, your budget is very similar to last year’s request, which this Committee rejected on a bipartisan basis. This year, your proposal contains even deeper cuts and would greatly reduce public housing and end most community development grants. It would lead to more people struggling to find affordable housing, and more people falling into homelessness."
April 3, 2019 Statement
"Unfortunately, this budget proposal would make our affordable housing crisis even worse, and it would relegate these vulnerable populations to an even more tenuous and marginalized existence within our society."
April 3, 2019 Statement
"As in past years, FDA’s request is in stark contrast to much of the Federal government. Many administration officials have appeared in the recent weeks defending steep cuts in their budget."

April 2, 2019 Statement
Secretary Wilson, General Goldfein, you have made it clear in your submitted testimony that you believe that the Air Force is too small and under-resourced to carry out its mission requirements under the National Defense Strategy with acceptable risk. Taking into account your concerns with readiness, capacity, and capability, the Subcommittee is prepared to review your fiscal year 2020 budget request within the scope of the resources that will be provided to the Department.
