Republicans Adopt Arbitrary Allocations, Fail To Provide Funding Across Government

June 11, 2025

WASHINGTON — Following the adoption of four subcommittee allocations by the House Appropriations Committee, Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) released a new fact sheet and the following statement on the incomplete funding proposals for fiscal year 2026:

“This is absurd. We are beginning the appropriations process without a total funding level, no indication for what the rest of our appropriations bills will be allocated, and without a complete budget request from the Administration. We are flying blind and handcuffed into the critical work of providing discretionary funding for programs and services across the government that help to grow the middle class, protect the working class, support small businesses, and grow our economy – this is important business that cannot be done responsibly without a complete vision for how we plan to fund the government. We must get serious about how the Appropriations Committee moves forward. These are no ordinary times. The Congress’s authority over the power of the purse is being directly challenged by a lawless Administration every single day. If it is true that there are Democrats, there are Republicans, and there are appropriators, then now is the time for Appropriators to stand up and preserve our Constitutional authority over the power of the purse,” said Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03).
