Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey (D-NY) and House Appropriations Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee Chairman Mike Quigley (D-IL) released the following statement after the General Services Administration relented and allowed President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to access official transition resources:

“Today’s decision is an overdue but critical step in allowing our country to have an effective, secure and peaceful transition of power. It should not have required Congressional pressure to force the Trump administration to recognize the election results, but we are pleased the matter has been resolved.

“With his Cabinet and staff announcements to date, President-elect Biden has already shown his commitment to an orderly transition to a strong and stable administration. With today’s ascertainment, the Biden-Harris team will have every tool at their disposal to build back better starting on day one.”
