WASHINGTON — House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey (D-NY) and Labor-HHS-Education Subcommittee Chairwoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement after Planned Parenthood exited the Title X family planning program as a result of the Trump administration's extreme attacks on women's health:

“Planned Parenthood is one of the nation's most trusted health care providers, which is why the Trump administration forcing Planned Parenthood and other providers out of the Title X program for birth control and family planning through the Domestic Gag Rule is outrageous.

“The Domestic Gag Rule undermines the very purpose of the Title X program, which is to allow millions of women and men to access basic family planning services. Forcing so many providers out of the program will put birth control out of reach for millions, with severe consequences for families across the country.

“We will continue to fight against this unethical and unjust policy. Every woman deserves the right to make her own health care decisions, and Congress must stand up to the Trump administration to protect that right.”
