DeLauro on Trump’s Latest Budget Proposal

May 30, 2025

DeLauro: “This is not a complete budget.”

WASHINGTON — House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) issued the following statement on President Trump still failing to submit a full budget:

“President Trump and Office of Management and Budget Director Vought are clearly hiding their policy goals, because they would hurt the middle class, the working class, and the vulnerable. The government envisioned by President Trump only serves billionaires and the biggest corporations and would do nothing to lower the cost of living.

“This is not a complete budget. We are supposed to start putting together the funding bills for 2026 next week. If, as expected, House Republicans follow what President Trump has proposed so far, it is not a serious effort to deliver for the American people.”

Ranking Member DeLauro’s and Vice Chair Murray’s letter to Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russ Vought calling out the Trump administration’s failure to submit detailed spend plans as required by law is here. Their joint statement on OMB’s unlawful move to hide how they are directing agencies to spend taxpayer dollars is here. Ranking Member DeLauro’s statement on the non-partisan Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) finding that the administration is illegally impounding funds is here.
