DeLauro Statement on Vought Raising Energy Prices in Connecticut and Across the Country

October 1, 2025

This corrupt move is exactly why Russ Vought has been scheming to shut down the government.

WASHINGTON — House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) released the following statement on Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought terminating energy projects under the guise of the Republican shutdown:

“Russ Vought’s gleeful announcement that the White House will be unilaterally canceling energy projects in Connecticut and across the country is a direct partisan attack that we cannot ignore. This move is purely vindictive and untethered to the shutdown. Terminating critical energy projects in Democratic states weaponizes policy for political revenge and will only drive energy bills higher, increase unemployment, and eliminate jobs. It is reckless and betrays both common sense and public trust.

“This shutdown was engineered by Russ Vought. He has been scheming, hoping, and planning for this since he was last in office, building his plan to dismantle essential government functions with no regard for the working class, the middle class, and vulnerable Americans who depend on them. We will not cave to partisan extortion.”
