DeLauro Statement on Trump Administration Deciding to Stop Withholding TSA Paychecks

March 26, 2026

WASHINGTON – Today, House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) issued a statement after President Trump announced that after 41 days of withholding paychecks from TSA workers, he was going to allow his administration to pay them.

“If the White House believes they have the authority to pay these workers, then every day for the past 41 days, they have been making a conscious decision not to pay them. As the lines got longer, as workers called out, as agents quit or got second jobs, they chose again and again not to pay these workers.

“I am glad that this administration has finally chosen to pay these workers, after choosing not to for 41 days. The administration must provide an explanation as to what funding it is using to pay these workers after falsely claiming it could not do so.

“The next step now is to pass my bill to fully fund the agency, along with the other parts of DHS that Democrats and Republicans agree on, and then return to the negotiating table to establish protections against abuse by ICE and CBP that the vast majority of Americans are demanding.”
