DeLauro Statement on House Republican Vote to Continue Health Care Crisis
WASHINGTON — House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) issued the following statement on House passage of Republicans’ partisan continuing resolution:
“Republicans just voted to drive our country closer to a shutdown rather than protect the health care of the American people. Their plan rips away coverage, raises costs, and leaves families at the mercy of President Trump and Budget Director Russ Vought’s corruption.
“Democrats are opposed to the Republicans’ partisan spending bill. We have a plan to end the crisis. Senator Patty Murray and I introduced a continuing resolution that lowers costs, protects care, and keeps the government open. That is the responsible path forward.
“The choice is simple: Democrats are fighting to stop Republicans from gutting health care. Democrats are fighting to lower costs for the middle class, the working class, and vulnerable Americans. Republicans simply want the status quo, hardworking people living paycheck to paycheck and struggling to afford everyday necessities. The Senate must reject this partisan spending bill and stand with the American people.”
