DeLauro Statement on Congresswoman Watson Coleman’s Decision Not to Seek Re-Election

November 11, 2025

WASHINGTON — Today, House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released the following statement on Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman’s (NJ-12) historic career and her decision to not seek re-election.

“I want to congratulate Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman on a remarkable career in public service. I have had the privilege of working side-by-side with her on the Appropriations Committee and have seen firsthand her tireless commitment to fighting for the most vulnerable Americans not only in New Jersey, but across the country.

“Congresswoman Watson Coleman is a relentless advocate for affordable housing, health equity, civil rights, the dignity of work, the abolition of poverty, and the extension of economic opportunity to all. From the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, to the General Assembly, to the House of Representatives, she has always led with compassion – striving to uplift the voices of those who have gone unheard for too long.

“She is guided by her faith and driven by an unwavering moral clarity that inspires resilience in her allies and reluctance in her adversaries. I am grateful to call her a colleague and blessed to call her a friend. I will miss her partnership in the next Congress, but I look forward to all we will accomplish in the year to come.”
