DeLauro on Latest Nonpartisan Government Watchdog Findings: “The Trump administration has broken the law again.”
Government Accountability Office Once Again Determines Trump Administration Unlawfully Stealing Funds Promised to American Communities
WASHINGTON — House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) issued the following statement on the Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) new findings that President Trump has illegally impounded Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) funding for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) and the Shelter and Services Program (SSP):
“The list of President Trump and Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought’s unlawfully stolen funds promised to communities across the country continues to grow. Instead of focusing on lowering costs and helping our communities address homelessness, the Trump administration has broken the law again, illegally withholding money promised to every corner of the country.
“These findings make it evident that Russ Vought and Kristi Noem are conspiring to strip much-needed resources away from states. Time and again, Noem has proven that she cannot run the Department of Homeland Security. Her disregard for the rule of law and mismanagement of this critical agency have hurt hardworking Americans, and now it looks like she is simply letting Russ Vought run the show.”
