Appropriations Committee Releases FY 2021 Homeland Security, Financial Services and General Government Bill Reports Ahead of Wednesday Markup

WASHINGTON — The House Appropriations Committee today released its reports accompanying the fiscal year 2021 Homeland Security and Financial Services and General Government appropriations bills.

For fiscal year 2021, the Homeland Security bill provides $50.72 billion in discretionary funding, including $48.1 billion in nondefense discretionary funding, the same level as fiscal year 2020, and $2.8 billion in defense funding, $250 million more than in fiscal year 2020. The bill also provides an additional $5.1 billion in funding for disaster relief and $215 million for overseas contingency operations.

The full Appropriations Committee will mark up the Homeland Security bill, followed by the Financial Services and General Government bill, on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.

For fiscal year 2021, the Financial Services and General Government bill includes $24.64 billion in discretionary funding, an increase of $808 million over the 2020 enacted level. In addition, to help the nation recover from the coronavirus pandemic and the ensuing economic recession, the bill provides emergency funding of $61 billion for broadband infrastructure and $6 billion for the modernization of Federal buildings.
