Appropriations Committee Releases FY 2021 Energy and Water Development, Labor-HHS-Education Bill Reports Ahead of Monday Markup

WASHINGTON — The House Appropriations Committee today released its reports accompanying the fiscal year 2021 Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies and Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies appropriations bills.

For fiscal year 2021, the Energy and Water Development bill invests $49.6 billion in Energy and Water Development programs, an increase of $1.26 billion, or 3 percent, above the fiscal year 2020 enacted level. To respond to the coronavirus pandemic and the ensuing economic recession, the bill provides an additional $43.5 billion in emergency spending.

The full Appropriations Committee will mark up the Energy and Water Development bill, followed by the Labor-HHS-Education bill, on Monday at 1:00 p.m.

For fiscal year 2021, the Labor-HHS-Education bill includes $196.5 billion in overall funding, an increase of $2.4 billion above the FY 2020 enacted level and $20.8 billion above the President’s 2021 budget request after accounting for offsets and adjustments. In addition, to rebuild the nation’s aged public health infrastructure, the bill provides $24.425 billion in emergency funding.
