"Every FEMA program and activity is critical. That is why I was disappointed that the administration proposes an overall cut of 8.5 percent to FEMA’s budget outside of the Disaster Relief Fund. The proposed cuts are particularly glaring in the Federal Assistance account, which has a proposed 20 percent reduction to the current year budget."

WASHINGTON — The House Appropriations Committee today released the draft fiscal year 2020 Legislative Branch funding bill, which will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow. The legislation funds the Legislative Branch of the U.S. government, including the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressional Budget Office, and Capitol Police.

The bill appropriates a total of $3.943 billion, $135 million or 3.6 percent more than in FY 2019. In keeping with longstanding practice whereby each chamber of Congress determines its own housekeeping requirements and the other concurs without intervention, the bill does not include funds for the Senate or for Senate office buildings.

"The Committee has made significant investments in Navy platforms and readiness over the past several years to ensure that Sailors and Marines are prepared for whatever happens throughout the world. We want to understand how the fiscal year 2020 budget request is focusing on increasing readiness, utilizing the platforms currently in the Navy inventory to their full capacity, and taking care of Sailors and Marines and their families."
