WASHINGTON — The House Appropriations Committee today released the draft fiscal year 2020 Defense funding bill, which will be considered in subcommittee on Wednesday, May 15. The legislation funds the Department of Defense, including operations and maintenance, readiness activities, research and development, equipment modernization, and health and quality-of-life programs for our troops and military families.

The House today passed legislation, on a bipartisan vote of 257-150, to provide relief and recovery assistance for Americans affected by hurricanes, wildfires, floods, and other natural disasters.
House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey delivered the following remarks on the House Floor in support of H.R. 2157, legislation to provide relief and recovery assistance for Americans affected by recent natural disasters.
"This bill reflects Congressional priorities to advance U.S. foreign policy and our foreign assistance programs. It upholds many bipartisan positions of this Committee and of Congress. It largely follows the language of the FY 2019 Omnibus, with notable exceptions on certain issues, such as reproductive health, climate change, and multilateral assistance."
