July 11, 2024
Statements

WASHINGTON — House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) andLegislative Branch Appropriations Subcommittee Ranking Member Adriano Espaillat (D-NY-13) released the following statement:

“Today, House Republicans failed to pass their own misguided 2025 Legislative Branch funding bill. This bill as written failed to move the institution of Congress forward and is filled with unnecessary, harmful, and discriminatory policies that were removed in the final 2024 bill. Instead of working with Democrats on a bipartisan measure that would get widespread support, Republicans included poison pill provisions that ensured it would receive almost no Democratic support. It is time for Republicans to join Democrats to govern responsibly, which is the only way spending bills can be signed into law.”
