Press Release

WASHINGTON — House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey (D-NY) issued the following statement after President Trump signed H.R. 8337, a bipartisan continuing resolution to extend federal government funding through December 11 and avoid a government shutdown:

“This bipartisan continuing resolution will keep government open, prevent a devastating shutdown, and allow additional time to negotiate full-year appropriations bills.

“I am particularly pleased that Democrats prevailed in securing nearly $8 billion in desperately needed nutrition assistance for struggling Americans. Democrats will build on this victory to negotiate full appropriations bills that invest for the people.”

H.R. 8337, the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2021 and Other Extensions Act, passed the House on September 22 on a bipartisan 359 to 57 vote and cleared the Senate on September 30 on a vote of 84 to 10.
