Press Release

WASHINGTON — House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey (D-NY-17) released the following statement after President Trump signed two legislative packages that together comprise all 12 fiscal year 2020 funding bills:

“House Democrats worked hard to enact responsible, full-year spending bills that reflect our priorities and make historic investments in American families and communities.

“From gun violence prevention research to election security grants, from education to lifesaving medical research, these appropriations bills achieved critical funding victories for our shared security and prosperity.

“With the start of next year’s appropriations process around the corner, House Democrats will continue fighting For the People.”

The spending packages – H.R. 1865, a domestic priorities and international assistance appropriations minibus, and H.R. 1158, a national security appropriations minibus – passed the House on December 17 and the Senate on December 19.
