FACT SHEET: Trump’s Project 2025 Shaped House Republicans’ Funding Bills

August 8, 2024

DeLauro in Letter: “Despite Republican attempts to distance themselves, Trump’s Project 2025 is already here, shaping legislation being considered by this Congress.”

WASHINGTON —Today, Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro sent a letter outlining how House Republicans’ fiscal year 2025 funding bills are a clear signal of where Republicans seek to take this country. With this letter DeLauro released a new fact sheet detailing how Republicans are already carrying out Trump’s Project 2025 in the House of Representatives.

“Instead of joining House Democrats to write funding bills that could become law, House Republicans chose to once again consider extreme bills—guided by the policies detailed in Trump’s Project 2025—with disastrous spending cuts and harmful and divisive policy riders. This charade ended in a similar fashion as last year—with failure on the House floor,” wrote Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03). “But these were not just messaging bills. They were a clear signal of where Republicans seek to take this country if given the opportunity. And the fingerprints of Trump’s Project 2025 are all over them. Dramatic cuts to public education, policy riders that restrict abortion access, ending efforts to confront climate change, and attacks on the justice system and our system of checks and balances are just a few of the mandates for a future Republican government in Trump’s Project 2025 manifesto that are hiding in plain sight throughout fiscal year 2025 appropriations bills.”

Ranking Member DeLauro’s full letter is here. The fact sheet comparing Trump’s Project 2025 to House Republicans’ fiscal year 2025 funding bills is here.
