DeLauro: Trump’s Unlawful Freeze is Not Over
Rescinding the OMB Memo is a Battle Won in a Long War, The Architect of this Chaos is Still At Large
**ICYMI** DeLauro Regarding Washington Post's January 13 Editorial: “The Editorial Board was spot-on in giving Russ Vought… a ‘thumbs down’”
WASHINGTON — House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro released the following statement after Acting Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Matthew J. Vaeth rescinded his memo directing agencies to withhold vast swaths of approved and legally required federal funding:
“President Trump and Republicans have sent the entire country into chaos by unilaterally and unlawfully attempting to steal resources promised to American families. Communities across the country have come together to voice their extreme opposition to this move. Hardworking Americans told the Trump Administration they will not stand for their attempts to raise their energy bills, kick their children out of afterschool programs and child care, and pull families out of their homes. While Republicans attempt to walk this memo back, we should celebrate that our unity can overcome their lawlessness. But, make no mistake, the pause in funds initiated by Trump’s Executive Orders remains in effect, and the architect of this chaos and Project 2025—Russell Vought—is potentially days away from once again holding the strings of the Trump Administration.
“President Trump must follow the law and rescind his Executive Orders that unilaterally steal dollars promised to hardworking Americans. The United States Senate must stop Russell Vought from becoming OMB Director.”
