WASHINGTON House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) released the following statement on Representative Charlie Crist’s (D-FL-13) resignation from Congress:

“Throughout his career in public service, Representative Charlie Crist has been a devoted champion for the people of Florida and a staunch advocate for the programs and policies that matter most to his constituents in Pinellas County.

“Over his last three terms in office, Representative Crist has led with conviction in support of legislation that helps veterans find necessary treatment, grows the use of solar energy in Florida, and supports victims of domestic violence.

“As a member of the Appropriations Committee since 2019, he has worked tirelessly to secure funding and resources for the people of Florida’s 13th district to create jobs, support local government agencies, and strengthen critical non-profits and small businesses. Through his membership on the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies, Defense, and Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Subcommittees, Representative Crist has fought for funding that champions the needs of veterans everywhere, combats the climate crisis, bolsters our national security, and strengthens our nation’s infrastructure.

“I know that Representative Crist’s constituents and his colleagues in Congress will miss him dearly. I wish him all the best as he embarks on his next chapter.”
