Press Release

House Committee on Appropriations Chair Rosa DeLauro released the following statement on President Biden’s signing of H.R. 2471, the bipartisan and bicameral omnibus appropriations and Ukraine supplemental package:

“For the first time in a long time, I believe we show just how government can deliver for working people once again. I thank President Biden for signing this bill into law which allows us to tackle the toughest challenges our country faces today and support Ukraine and its people as they continue this battle for democracy and freedom.

“While I am disappointed that I could not attend today’s signing of this transformative spending package, I am proud of all that we were able to accomplish. After years of stalled investments, we are helping working families with the cost of living. We are helping students pay for the high cost of education and giving hard-working families a better chance to own their homes. We are confronting climate change and putting Americans back to work by creating jobs across the country, helping small businesses, and rebuilding our infrastructure by unlocking the full funding provided by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

“The enactment of this legislation means we are building a government that, instead of catering to the wealthy and big corporations, bends over backwards to support the middle class and those living paycheck to paycheck. This bill is a victory for working families, a victory for the American people.”
