DeLauro Statement on Court Ordering OMB to Stop Concealing Government Spending Information Required by Law to be Public

January 29, 2026

WASHINGTON – Today, House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) issued the following statement on the District Court for the District of Columbia ruling that Budget Director Russell Vought and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) are violating the law – which was authored by Ranking Member DeLauro – that requires public disclosure of the administration’s use of trillions of dollars in taxpayer money, known as apportionments.

"Time and time again, Russ Vought and the Office of Management and Budget have shown a willingness to intentionally violate the law, and overwhelming contempt for the American taxpayer. And time and time again, courts and the American taxpayer have seen right through Russ Vought's attempts to illegally avoid accountability. His blatant disregard for the law clearly demonstrates that Vought’s OMB cannot be trusted, which is why this apportionment data must be made public.

“Accountability is coming."
