DeLauro Releases State-by-State Information on Jeopardized Disaster Funding
WASHINGTON —Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro released new information detailing the bipartisan disaster relief and recovery investments across the country that are now at risk due to House Republicans’ capitulation to President Musk’s uninformed and dangerous demands of a shutdown.
“There was an agreement between Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate to provide long overdue relief and recovery aid to the millions of American families still reeling from extreme weather and natural disasters, which is now jeopardized by Republicans’ 11th-hour decision to yield to the demands of an unelected, uninformed multibillionaire,” said Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03). “It is dangerous for House Republicans to have folded to the demands of the richest man on the planet, who nobody elected, after leaders in both parties came to an agreement to fund the government and provide this disaster aid. There was no need for a government shutdown.”
“From Maui to Asheville, and from Oklahoma to Connecticut, Americans have courageously worked to rebuild their homes, restore their communities, and reestablish their local economies, and they have patiently awaited long-due assistance from their government to help in managing and funding these efforts,” DeLauro continued. “That is all now at risk. Republicans own whatever comes next.”
