Taps Matt Washington as Deputy Staff Director

House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) today made staff announcements following the nomination of current Staff Director and Clerk Shalanda Young to serve as Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget.

DeLauro has promoted Robin Juliano to Staff Director and Clerk. Juliano is currently Clerk of the Labor-HHS-Education Subcommittee. She previously served as a senior policy advisor on President Barack Obama’s White House National Economic Council, as a professional staff member on the Senate Appropriations Committee, and as an education policy advisor on the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee. Juliano, a first-generation college graduate and Pell Grant recipient, has an undergraduate degree in history from Brown University and a master’s in education policy from the University of Maryland.

“I am thrilled that Robin will join the Front Office and lead the Appropriations Committee’s staff. I have worked closely with Robin on the Labor-HHS-Education Subcommittee and have always been impressed with her work ethic, her extensive knowledge, and her commitment to America’s children and families. She will be a terrific Staff Director as we engage in the hard work that faces the 117th Congress,” DeLauro said.

DeLauro also announced the promotion of Matt Washington to Deputy Staff Director. Washington is currently Clerk of the Legislative Branch Subcommittee. A 13-year veteran of the Appropriations Committee, he previously served as Clerk of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee. Before joining the Committee, Washington was Staff Director of the Transportation Security and Infrastructure Subcommittee of the House Committee on Homeland Security and a legislative assistant to two Members of Congress. He has an undergraduate degree in history from Hampton University.

“With his years of experience with the Appropriations Committee and expertise across multiple subcommittees, Matt is an excellent addition to the Front Office,” DeLauro said. “I look forward to working with Matt and the rest of our Front Office staff, as well as the talented Clerks and subcommittee staffs, as we implement our agenda to Build Back Better.”

In addition, DeLauro announced that Chief Counsel Adam Berg, Communications Director Evan Hollander, Professional Staff Members Jason Gray and Adam Wilson, and Director of Operations Tom Tucker will all continue in their current roles.
